Goddard sits west of Wichita, and the single most useful thing to understand about it is that the school district is far bigger than the town. The City of Goddard is small; the district serves a population many times that, most of it in west Wichita.

The district is not the town

Goddard Public Schools, USD 265, primarily serves the communities of west Wichita along with Goddard itself. Historically the large majority of its students have lived inside the Wichita city limits, not in Goddard.

That matters when you are house hunting: a great many addresses with a Wichita postal address are in the Goddard district. If someone tells you they want Goddard schools, the search area is much wider than the town.

Two high schools

The district runs Goddard High School and Eisenhower High School. Which one an address feeds into is one of the first questions to settle, because it shapes the whole search.

Still growing

The district reported more than fifty active or planned housing developments within its boundaries as of summer 2024, and projects those will add one to two thousand students over the following decade. Enrolment has grown across three decades, from roughly 2,500 students in the mid-1990s to over 6,300 by 2025.
